My 57 in Board & My Big Stick Combo Review by JPpoly
Price Value Quality Bought a Big stick adjustable two months ago rolling on a Arbor 46in.. Actually loved the whole experience with being able to have a complete all over body work out. Three weeks ago bought a Hukilau Classic 57" long board and have never looked back. Both combos are just amazing. Love the fact that the board has no flex allowing me to put down some serious strokes to the pavement. Did some riding today with a friend who also has a big stick and a long board was just blown away when he tried my board. Living in the San Francisco Bay Area there still not to popular here but we get stopped all the time and asked a lot of questions especially when we tell them our ages mine 44 my buddies 42. Also love the fact there is no joint shock on any of my bones... Today we did 5 1/2 miles I can feel the pain everywhere but at least there is no pain in my knees or so on. Compared to my Arbor the trucks are about 1 1/2 in wider and the wheels exactly 3/4 of inch wider giving you a solid footprint as you ride. Just love this board.. I still use my Arbor to get the mail every day... (Posted on 1/17/12)

Instant Fun! Review by The Bear
Price Value Quality I ordered my Hukilau right before Christmas as a gift to myself, after a rough, rough year! I read the reviews of others and called Kahuna twice before hitting the send button. I will first say that the staff was very helpful in answering all of my questions, no matter how trivial and pointed me in the right direction. I told them that I hadn't been on a skateboard in over 20 years, and had some hesitation. They suggested the Hukilau and the optional, better wheels, as well as the adjustable stick. I wanted my kids to be able to participate, as well, and the adjustable stick has been perfect for them.
Okay, I'm an older guy. I still surf, but I've always been a long boarder on the waves, and use to be on the street. I never got into the carving, flying, jumping aspects of skateboarding or surfing, though I have always admired those who do. I was thrilled to see the return of the wooden longboard in skateboards, as it immediately brought back images of my '72 model, Hobie skateboard. AND, it was cool to see the added aspect of paddling for both exercise and adventure.
I LOVE riding this board. I am out on it every chance I get, and it keeps getting better and better. I live in a pretty hilly neighborhood in NC, so the downhills are a blast and the uphills are a workout. I must say that paddling uphill remains a stiff challenge, but it gets better and better too. And my neighbors are stoked to see me fly by. My guess is that pretty soon there will be more orders coming Kahuna's way from my area.
I would highly recommend anyone buying a Hukilau! I have never ridden the standard wheels, but I can tell you the optional, better wheels are great. They are very stable, fast and smooth. The board itself is excellent! It's beautiful to look at, stable and smooth to ride and an instant good time. Took me about 15 minutes to know it was the coolest thing out there, and one of my all time favorite Christmas presents. thanks, KC! (Posted on 1/12/12) -
Don't hesitate... Review by Mobilegroomer
Price Value Quality I waited at least 6 months before I finally decided to "get into" longboarding. At 52 (and never having been a skateboarder), I didn't know if I'd break a leg (or arm, hip, etc). What sold me was finding one at a local store at the mall. I tried it out on their floor and decided it was relatively safe! What a BLAST! The mall model I purchased was the 48" Pohaku. Within about a month, I purchased 57" Hukilau. Both are excellent boards. The 48" Pohaku is more responsive and the 57" Hukilau does a nice job quieting road vibrations. Bottom line, if you're "thinking about it", JUST DO IT! Great fun and a great product. I rated "Quality" as 4 stars due to a couple imperfections in my Hukilau's finish. For $350, there shouldn't be any imperfections! But, hey, they're going to get dinged up anyway, right? (Posted on 6/5/11)

Functional Art--Beautiful Board, Smooth Ride Review by Monsterair
Price Value Quality If had the Hukilau for about six months now. Got it as a Cross over for SUP Paddleboard training. A little sticker shock at first. But, when you compare the quality to other longboards out there, there really is no comparison. The board really looks like a work of art. It really is as functional as is beautiful too. As a crossover for SUP paddleboarding I don't think it has an equal. It is very smooth and stable making it easy to cruise long distances and keep up the speed. The trucks are wide and the wheels roll very smoothly. I was using a 46 in Sector 9 long board before this with a Kahuna Big Stick Classic. Nice set up, very maneuverable and smoothas well. However, as a SUP crossover the Hukilau blows it away. It definitely hold speed better and is smoother doing it. What it gives up in maneuverability, it more than makes up in high speed smooth stability allowing you to really dig with your paddle strokes. PS: I also upgraded to a Bamboo Big Stick. Awesome stick! Really mimics SUP strokes with a little flex and snap. The Ultimate in a Premium High Quality Beautiful combination. (Posted on 5/4/11)

Sweet as Pie Review by Big Wassabi
Value Quality Price I live on the east end of Long Island in the Hamptons I have been stand up paddle boarding for the last three years, when I saw the Kahuna big stick Hukilau Longboard I thought wow what great workout potential for days when you just can't get on the water there is always the road. The Hukilau 57'' is a nice smooth ride and great for cruising and working out but it does not feel like a performance board. For my needs and riding style it's perfect. So far I've yet to see anyone on the East End rolling with the big stick. So closing with my review, I would highly recommend this board to anyone ready to step into the future, peace BW! LandSurfin' with a BIG Stick.... Luv it. Review by JGBuddy
Value Quality Price It's beautiful! It's topnotch quality! it's for cruising not cutting. The front wheels will rub the bottom of the board if you turn over aggresively. I am a big guy but also very athletic. I can worjk this board over and it responds very well........until pushed beyond the limit (too sharp). other than that it is perfect. Gets lots of looks. I know they all want one too! I found this in a Store in Whitefish, MT. being used as a prop - I bought it and now ride it in Colorado. Nobody else around here has ever seen one before. Big thumbs up! Review by KN
Price Value Quality I have owned the Hukilau for several months now. We have a blacktop road in our neighborhood without hills and it is basically a flat venue. In researching the board there were a number of references to the cross training potential of the board which I was particularly interested in. With surfing in mind, this board glides, makes beautiful turns, has mass to provide momentum, and yields just an amazing feel overall. The closest think I can compare it to is the feeling of surfing on my longboard. Again with glide and turns that are quite similar to being on the water. Hence it does serve as a surfing cross trainer which is huge as you can't always get to the water but you can launch from the driveway. The kids also love to take it for a spin and stampede for rides! I also purchased a Kahuna Stick and with the SUP in mind, a whole new dimension is introduced. Now it's SUP time and the rig becomes a good cross trainer for this based on my paddling experiences in the bay. Just a great board and my overall impression is a huge thumbs up for the Hukilau!
