Love it - Good for the mind, body, and family Review by Dave

Love, love, love...I wish there were 6 stars so I give the Bombora that rating. I have never surfed, SUP'd, snowboarded, or skateboarded in my life but with bad knees was looking for a fun workout. The board is so smooth and stable that I was up and running in a day after a little practice turning and braking in the driveway. The big stick really gives you stability and confidence if you're worried about falling or not being able to slow down. I am 215 lbs and the board is very sturdy.
Land paddling for an hour goes by like 5 minutes - it's mind-clearing, relaxing, and meditative. Whether you're paddling up a hill -bending the knees, really digging in- or smoothly carving your way down a hill, it's unlike anything. That feeling of surfing around your neighborhood is just totally zen. I have the confidence in my balance now to try surfing or paddleboarding next time we're at the beach.
As for the workout, I don't even realize I'm sweating until I get home. My heart rate monitor has clocked an average heart rate of 151 and 700 calories burned in a 45 minute session. There is the benefit of arms and core, but I found that a long session also is good for the lower calves and feet. Keeping your balance for 45 minutes works a lot of small muscles that you would never use just lifting weights.
I bought a Bombora and Big Stick for my wife as well and she and I go out together to surf the neighborhood. We have a blast.
This board has made me remember what it feels like to be a kid just playing and having fun. I can't recommend this highly enough and think everyone - young, old, weak, strong, whatever- will love riding the Bombora and big stick.

Life Changer Review by Mikhail (Ka'imike imike)

I have been riding a Bombora for about 7 months. I have owned boards greater than 55 inches, and prefer them because I was a big wave surfer, a native Hawaiian, and I like a big board. Most of the big boards I have ridden were too slow,, not well balanced, too flexy. When you weigh about 140 , and the board is cracking, there is a problem in engineering. I am no stranger to restoring my boards, adding shock pads or risers, changing wheel size or durometer to get the perfect "wave". I am a distance and speed rider. If I want to do tricks, I get a little board. If I want to enjoy life, I go for a bigger gun. As we say I Hawaiian "No ka oi" . It means its the number one (or Ichi ban- in Japanese). The perfect balance, thickness, wood and weight for its size. Its no lightweight to carry. It almost 20 pounds. If you are pushing, its twice the height to lift your leg. If you have a paddle and the will, you will surpass the foot pusher in speed. You also will develop a pair of delts and traps and abs that will make you look rad. I'm totally recommending a paddle. This board is ungripped, so for all of you who like to be barefood, its gnarly . I gripped one of my Bombora because I landsurf downbig hills too. It has a wise enough contact patch that you can lean on the edge with all your weight for turns and not experience wheel bite. . I used a clear spray grip not to mar its beauty. As for care and feeding, the wheels that the Bombora comes with are also primo grade. They have Bear trucks which are rad, they only thing I like to do when I first get a board beside loosen my trucks a little (preference) is change the bearings ., I am over 50. working poor, had a lung removed 2 years ago and still wanted to do board sports. Using a land paddle- The Big Stick- built up my core and upper body, and who can not use that? You can never be too old or messed up to landpaddle and skate. I do recommend a helmet and reflective gear. Be safe out there. (Posted on 12/20/13)

Great tranport on Alki Beach Review by Beck

I've skateboarded since I was 7 riding metal wheels. Now I am much older, and wanted major transport down Alki here in Seattle. The Kahuna Bombora is what i choose for this need. I ride it with and without a stick; in the sun and in the rain. The Bombora Blue always gives me a very satisfying ride. And while I garner smiles from wahines and other riders as I cruise by, for me it is the warm glow inside to be riding that inspires me with this board.
